This weekend, we spent our time impersonating people with culture.
On Saturday, we went to the European Embassy open house tour in DC. I was told there would be beer and chocolate, so I was in. The brochure billed it as an event for the entire family and included activities for children.
Lines were long, so we ended up only visiting the Embassy of Finland. There was Finnish music, murals, samples of traditional food, and a video that bore the warning, "Contains nudity and violence." Ethan was busy having a tantrum in the corner because I would not share my sample of the spinach pancake, so I did not think much of it.
Sunday, after brunch, we made an impromptu stop at The Baltimore Museum of Art, mainly because I'd had two Bloody Marys and the ladies restroom at the BMA looked more promising than the skeevy gas station across the street.
A note to my male friends: If you have not had the chance to visit an art museum lately, I suggest you cancel your Maxim subscription and go. Lots and lots of nudes, um, art. Tops, bottoms, the whole nine yards. And something for the lady, too: Rodin's "Thinker" is not wearing any pants. And take my word for it, he does not need to compensate for anything at all with a red sports car.
Ethan was on the phone last night with his grandma and I overhear the weekend summary:
Yesterday, we went to see naked people in Finland!
Today, we went to Baltimore to see more naked people!
I saw ten butts there.
TEN! BUTTS!!!

I believe he picked up on the important parts of the weekend...
I LOVE Ethan's summary of the weekend :) I hope my son is half as articulate when he's older! Thanks for the laugh today!
nekkid people! Now that's my kind of culture! WOOT!
What an adorable post. Ethan is very observant ... :) Have a great week my friend.
He sounds like he would get on famously with my kids. That is a riot. We went to the zoo recently and all the kids could talk about was the "nasty" statue of a nekkid lady.
I just read your "about you" and feel like we could be fast friends! I look forward to checking back with you regularly :)
Denalee
and that's *exactly* why i want to become a mom
Now leaving to go suggest tours of art museums to the Mrs. Wish me luck...
Umm..."long lines"? Or ridiculous traffic on the Beltway?
I am really excited to do the tours next year, but like you said, we do need to look for wine & cheese parties at embassies throughout the year! Check on that for me OK?
I have a degree in art history. I totally wish you'd been my professor!
Butts are totally culture.
NOTED. :)
