Three Days Of Tears And Now Magic Sparkly Magical Magic!

(This is what my house will look like when we finish renovations. I don't think the gilded staircase is too ostentatious, do you?)

Tuesday was the hardest day of my life. The Hopkins appointment (all five hours of it!) was so much worse then I though it would be. I dry-heaved over the hospital wall when it was done, like some Lifetime movie character who's been off her lithium. I am mulling over the possibility of this life and limitations, and cannot process it all, right now. So I have been crying; out of pain, frustration, and sheer exhaustion. And then I'll yell at someone and then I'll cry about yelling. It's been fun around these parts.

So, now Disney, there are no tears allowed in Disney World. We were supposed to leave today, Thursday, but we pushed it back until Saturday so I could get my bearings and scale back the sobbing. I think lunatic crying for hours on a plane might get you flagged by TSA. Certainly it will get you arrested at WDW.

Friends, I need some tips. In true procrastinating fashion, I have not planned an itinerary. We have flights, a car, and a place to stay (Thanks, KC and NT, for generously letting us use your timeshare, the swim-up pool bar and I plan to become close friends!) As for parks, restaurants, and activities (I've read there is nothing much fun to do in Orlando?), we need some guidance.

Has anyone done Discovery Cove? It is about 40 million dollars to swim the dolphins but may be worth it? Unless they riot, like their larger whale counterpart, then not so worth it. (Sorry, SeaWorld trainer, RIP.)

Please hit me up with your best Disney/SeaWorld/Orlando tips/magical sparkly BEST VACATION IN FLORIDA EVER tips, and I will post a picture of Mickey ears for you later as a reward. I need your brilliance and your best Orlando vacation ideas so I don't have to think for myself. Please share!

Love and Mickey Ears and Whale Flippers, J

Love your new digs... but it needs just a smidge more gold... and some glitter!

OK, my Orlando tip... don't miss Arabian Nights! It's a beautiful equestrian dinner show. Over 60 horses perform, including "Walter Farley's Black Stallion).I've loved it every.single.time!
Plus they release about 20 horses (usually the ones in training) into the arena after the show. They get to let loose and have some fun.

The show is beautiful and the food is pretty darn good too.
check them out at http://www.arabian-nights.com/

Have a great trip. Disney is a great place to leave the real world behind.

We're so boring that we don't do anything but go to the park, walk around in wonder, and then do it again the next day. No tips here, I'm afraid, but lots and lots and lots of love and prayers that you find each minute more strength from those who are sending you theirs...

For the record, I won't be happy with the Mickey Ears unless they are the glitter ones, or at the very least, with the princessy pink flowey thing....

The house renovations suit you to a "T." (Or as much as a virtual friend knows of you :-)

I haven't been to WDW since my honeymoon 20 years ago. In this, as in so many other things, I am woefully out of date!

However, I'll send up prayers for strength and the best darn Mickey time ever.

Two comments: (alright, probably more, but...)

When Lil & E get married, we are not paying for a hotel ballroom. And I'm not paying you for a rental fee for the castle. Not gonna do it. And no, you cannot have the rehearsal dinner there.

Secondly, hmmm, I'm gonna call you out on FB for this one so stay tuned.

Thirdly, puh-leez do Discovery Cove & tell me whether it's worth the GDP of Switzerland to go there. That's fair, right? I help with my place, you check out dolphins...Thanks!

Fourthly, you need to find the chipmunks. One of our mutual friends thinks my obsession is kinda weird, but they're cute & funny. Just like you!

Fifthly, since you're still home, don't you need to go out tonight & sob w/ someone else besides J & E?

Sixthly, take comfy shoes - no walking ard in stiletto sandals, ok?

More later...

I wish I had been to WDW ... I can't offer much support there .. But having been in perhaps very similiar shoes (Manolos ... of course.. *smile*); I have gone through the crying for everything, and yes yelling at people and then crying for that too! You are a strong person, and you will make through ... some days will be good and others great! ... I know it really sucks on days, the reality of what has happened to you and you don't know the stranger in the mirror looking back...hits you; but be a fighter and don't give up! People often remind me that "God does not give you more than you can handle" at times I feel like he is giving me someone's share too, and I'm sure you do to .. but keep the faith... You will have an amzazing time in WDW.

We just went to Disney World in January. We did the Magic Kingdom and my absolute favorite part was Storytime with Belle in the Fairytale Garden. Go see that for sure. You are only two hours from the Ocean. Cocoa Beach is nice. I would make a road trip.

I am so sorry for all you are going through. I wish I knew something wonderful to say that would really help. All I can say is I love you friend. I think of you often and pray for your good health.

Have a great vacation! Florida is the best!

We had a family vacation a couple of years ago at WDW and tried to pack it all in. Too much! The Magic Kingdom is, well, magic. Crowded, but a must-do. Surprisingly, Animal Kingdom was a day well-spent, too. I'd skip MGM if I ever went back. Our best day, believe it or not, was Sea World and if I went back to Orlando I'd put it at the top of my list.
I've never done Discovery Cove or Arabian Nights but I've heard amazing things about both and would love to experience both. And, like advocatemom said, no trip to Florida is complete without going to the beach. It's peaceful and healing at the ocean...maybe just what you need.

Hope you have an amazing trip.

If you need to get away from all the magic - Coco Beach is a little drive away. And everybody needs a Ron Jon frisbee or t-shirt, of course (at Coco Beach).

Try the restaurant "Boma" at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, the food is great and the Lodge itself is spectacular and worth the trip. Have a wonderful time, and don't forget to schedule time to just relax at the pool every day....
