Kitty Porn

IT'S A BOY!

Weight: 1 lb. 6 oz.
Length: 10 inches

Thank you friends for checking on me via this blog. I am very much alive and enjoying doing a whole lot of not much this summer.

An adoptee joined our family last week. We visited PetSmart with the intent of purchasing a "real" pet, a guinea pig, for Ethan, and stumbled across the rescue center's cage stuffed with the last chance litter. The clearance kittens had one day left before they were sent to that big litterbox in the sky. You have no idea the restraint it took not to give in to that crazy cat lady inside of me and tell them to box up all of them.

Mr. Kittypants seems to enjoy home life. He finds the velvety couch much to the liking of his claws and has eschewed his pricey kitty bed made of faux fur in lieu of curling up in my makeup case on the vanity. As cats tend to do, he has quickly asserted himself as the boss around these parts. Ethan will shush me if kitty is sleeping. Must not disturb the kitty's rest!

I need your help on the matter of naming. I know you are a smart bunch, so I am hoping you can come through for me. We have tossed around Milo, Harley, and Gatsby, but so far, nothing has stuck. Ethan suggested Wieners; for obvious reasons, this is not a top contender.

So hit me up with your best name suggestions. Winner does not get a prize, but will get the intrinsic satisfaction of knowing that you have spared a cat the indignity of being referred to as Mr. Snuggly Woogly Fuzzy Wuzzy Kittypants (or Wieners).

Uhm... Felix? Nostradamus? Pip. I like Scout, too. Harley? Seeaytea? I don't know. I've always had dogs. I'm so not a cat person. But I will say, that IS a cute kitten. Glad to hear you're doing okay. Good luck on finding a name for the kitty!

I have just acquired 4 kittens...then lost one...gained another..and now we seem to be missing one....names we haven't used yet include....zig zag and Mr. Bannana...which is actually a lot like weiner. All names I am willing to part with!

He looks almost exactly like my friend's cat, Smegol. (It was a big year for LOTR, what can I say?) I'm not really suggesting you name him that. It's just the name that comes to mind first...

Tutankhamun, King Tut, purely on the basis that his ears make him look like an egyptian cat statue.

My creative naming process shut down at the thought of a bunch of kitties needing homes or... else! Congrats on getting a kitten and the accompanying warm feeling - from the good deed.

When I was growing up, we had two cats: Peanut Butter and Jelly. After Jelly passed, we got Diogenes. When I got married, we got a cat of our own and couldn't think of a name, so she became Pretty, as in, What a Pretty Kitty Cat. I'm recommending none of these.

For your new cat, I'd suggest: Hero. Possibly Zeus, Ares, or Apollo. But really, Hero.

Glad you're good.

I too like Mr. Kittypants. Other options include Nacho, because I find that a fun name for a cat, Meow Mix, Chaz, Viktor (because I personally imagine all cats have evil Russian accents) or Buster. But that’s just me, and I always have kept the names of the animals that I adopt from the animal shelter. Because I'm that creative.

PS- Glad you're back :)

What a cutie! My most recent cat was supposed to be Hannah (beautiful name!) but is now called Spit, b/c she was such a viper as a kitten. Before that was Jack, who was really a Jackie, and most innovatively, Mr. Kitty. Obviously I don't have a knack for names. I'm sure you're family will pick out something purrrfect (I know, I know, but couldn't resist!).

I love Gatsby.

I've always thought it would be funny to name a pet "Kevin", just because it's so hilarious.

Happy Happy Birthday, lady! Hope it was great.
