Update

Hopkins testing continues ... Jenny's vision is still poor with no explanation, though no worse than last week, and she is still very ill ... Scheduled for biopsy next Tuesday, though that may be bumped, depending on the results of pending tests.

She wanted me to say thank you for all the positive thoughts sent our way. - Jeff (for Jenny)

Hi Jenny (and Jeff). I've stumbled upon your blog by accident, following a link discussing subependymomas -- this is a brain tumor I've had removed just last month and I'm grateful that I went ahead with this decision. I was operated on by Dr. Lesniak from the University of Chicago Brain Tumor Center and cannot recommend him and the hospital highly enough. I know it's not clear what's causing your current symptoms, but I hope you'll get good news soon, either way. I have written quite a bit on my own blog about my health problems, so please visit it if you wish.

Sending you warmest wishes and good thoughts.

BTW, I'd like to add that my tumor was about the same size as Jenny's, in the right lateral ventricle. Even though MRIs did not show signs of hydrocephalus (increased pressure within brain), I had massive headaches, debilitating fatigue, a feeling of the pressure on my neck, and some difficulty swallowing. My neurosurgeon, Dr. Lesniak, pointed out that MRI does not always show hydrocephalus which may be present as a result of the tumor's blocking the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid and causing all the symptoms.

I'm doing fine post-surgery, with no major problems. (So far. It's been a month now.)

Elizabeth - Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and for sharing your experience with me. I am pleased to hear that you are doing well after such a risky surgery. I looked at your blog as well, and your writing is excellent. I think it is incredible that you are still writing and thinking at such a high level, so soon after major brain surgery. Dr. Lesniak certainly did an excellent job! I am happy for you that you seem to have your life back after such a harrowing ordeal. My good wishes to you as you continue to heal.
