So tomorrow is my birthday. My thirty-fourth. Go Me!
Considering there were no guarantees on thirty-four, I consider this an achievement. In fact, it was unclear whether I would still be around for the last half of thirty-two. And, thirty-three had two near misses. One might assume that toeing the fine line of mortality at a young(ish) age has provided me with some sort of insight into life, aging and appreciating the moment. I do not know that I am any wiser than I was at thirty. Just older, which has its own merits.
This is what I do know: I am grateful for friends that make me laugh and that ask me how I am doing. I am grateful for a healthy and happy son and a husband that takes out the trash (usually). I am grateful for birthday cake, candles, and the ability to distinguish one from the other.
Everything beyond that is a lovely bonus.

I had no idea our birthdays were so close. I hope you have a wonderful day you little Leo. That cake looks scrumptious!
Thanks for your note on my post the other day. It is tremendously comforting to know that someone else relates to my ramblings, as most people don't.
peace, love and birthday cake,
Emily
Happy Birthday!!
Happy Birthday! Congrats on 34 and here's to many, many more! Awesome cake I must say. Can I have a piece?

Looking forward to celebrating at brunch!
Have a most wonderful birthday!
Hey, you don't even know me but I follow your blog (when you post, which is not often enough for my strange curiousity - but even stranger concern for a stranger), as do some of my other Toronto (that's Canada!) lawyers. We're the silent majority rooting for you (eh) and wishing you a very happy birthday!
I'm sorry I didn't wish you a happy birthday! HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!
