While making dinner last night and plating vegetables, Ethan help up his hand and said very politely, "No thank you. I am giving up asparagus for Lent."
I said, "Nice try, you are eating your asparagus, now what else could you give up?"
"Fine! I will EAT my asparagus but then I'm gonna give up school instead. For forty days."
Note: We are not religious ... very creative, this one.

You use the phrase "making dinner" - could you explain this please? This seems like creative license...
"heating up dinner in the microwave" seems like many words to type ...
And the phrase "plating vegetables" - did you make dinner in England? And does this actually refer to taking them out of the take-out cntainer & putting them on plates?
